And almost every time in our experience, the actual inventory contains surprises. The digital equivalent of finding a duct taped spiderweb of electrical horror.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Rogue and Piggybacking Tags<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/datatrue.com\/en\/resources\/glossary\/rogue-pixel\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rogue tag<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is any script executing on your site that isn&#8217;t deployed through your tag management system. It might have been hardcoded onto a page by a developer for a quick test and forgotten, or maybe it was added by a content management plugin. It\u2019s also essential to run a scan before and after any major site changes, platform migrations, or redesigns. If you you have multiple teams, and agencies, constantly making changes and updates to their systems, and your website, you may even want to have a daily coverage scan to prevent any exposure from lingering long enough for a regulator to find.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Can&#8217;t we just do this manually?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not effectively at scale. A manual check of a few key pages will miss thousands of potential issues hidden in complex user journeys, on dynamic pages, or within third-party scripts.
